Industrial visit to "Sage Automation"

Date: Monday, 1st April 2019.
Third year and final year students of EXTC dept. SIGCE, on 01/04/2019 Industrial visit is considered as one of the practical methods of teaching. The main reason behind this- it gives the opportunity to the student to know things practically through interaction, working methods, and employment practices. Through the industrial visit, students get awareness about new technologies. Technology development is the main factor, about which a student should have good knowledge. The visit to Sage automation gave students an insight to know new areas of automation industry where EXTC student can work. In the automation industry where PLC, SCADA are used for automation, there is a need of a person who can understand the health of the network and communication system.

WORKSHOP ON DIGITAL SYSTEM DESIGN. (OCT-2019)

Digital technology has become so widespread that computation-intensive tasks in digital systems can often be taken for granted. This course gives an overview of circuitry, logic and system design for understanding the impact of electrical and computer engineering solutions in a global, economic and societal context. Topics include: Clocks and synchronization, CMOS logic circuits, Combinational logic design, Control and data path partitioning, Finite state machines, Logic building blocks, idioms and structured design, Microcode control, Sequential logic and timing analysis.

On Embedded System Design (OCT-2019)

Embedded systems are self-contained control systems or computer systems designed for particular purpose with bare necessary peripherals needed to run it. In the contemporary world, billions of embedded system devices including telephones, automobiles, electronic appliances and other digital devices are working around us, round the clock.

It contains processor, memory, peripherals, and sensors etc. While general purpose systems are meant for multiple purposes, embedded systems are designed for specific ones. Embedded systems may not have generic interfaces in most of the cases. Even if they have, it will have a specific purpose such as displaying output, giving input etc. Since they are used for a single purpose, the cost of implementing it will be less. Most of the time, embedded systems are time-critical applications which are not possible in general purpose systems.

WORKSHOP ON BASIC DESIGNING (IMAGE PROCESSING) – JAN 2019 BY MR. ANIL CHOUDHARY

From the beginning, Processing was designed as a first programming language. It was inspired by earlier languages like BASIC and Logo. The same elements taught in a beginning high school or university computer science class are taught through Processing, but with a different emphasis.

Processing is geared toward creating visual, interactive media, so the first programs start with drawing. Students new to programming find it incredibly satisfying to make something appear on their screen within moments of using the software. This motivating curriculum has proved successful for leading design, art, and architecture students into programming and for engaging the wider student body in general computer science classes.

Scope of EXTC

Electronics and Communication engineering is one of the most popular engineering branches out there. Among the Indian engineering aspirants, this particular discipline has been a popular choice for quite some time. With the evolution of the computer age, electronics & communication has transformed into a field that is inevitable, required by almost all the industries. Electronics is now part of our everyday life, from the mobile phones to televisions, computers and even the high-end advanced satellites that are helping us to lead a smooth life. Even electronics and communication engineering is the major driving force for the present day Information Technology revolution. Electronics and Communication Engineering has also penetrated into other areas like healthcare, instrumentation, and automation, remote sensing, signal processing etc. So students pursuing electronics and communication engineering have a lot of scope in varied industries.
Electronics and Communication Engineering graduates will have good scope even beyond 2020.

Some of the factors favouring ECE scenario: Growing convergence between hardware and software - this is something that electronics engineers have an edge in when compared to Computer grads.

Growing product companies in India. Once we have product companies emerging, electronic engineers are in demand - be it design or comprehensive testing.

Open source: One of the best things thats happening, undercurrent is open source community. When you have a great community to learn from and participate in, learning becomes enjoyable and fast on internet. You don't have to go to an top rated university to learn building a prototype of your product.

With increasing open sourcing and learning community online, learning costs reduce, which is an important factor for students in India. And hands on experience, on whatever little product you are developing are very important in progressing in engineering.

Career Options of Electronic & Communication Engineering
Multiple career paths are available within the realm of electronic communications engineering. Visit these links to get job descriptions and employment prospects for some of them .i.e Communications Engineer, Electronic Engineer, Electronic Communications Technician

How is the career outlook for ECE students?
ECE students can develop an exciting career in industries like consumer electronics manufacturing organization, Telecommunication & IT industries, Health care equipment manufacturing, Mobile communication (2G, 3G, and 4G), Internet technologies, Power Electronics, and other industries like steel, petroleum and chemical industry etc.

Graduates in Electronics Engineering also have lots of opportunities in Government and private companies in the areas of design, manufacture, installation, operation, and maintenance of electronics equipment and systems.
With the advent of latest technological innovations, new opportunities came into existence for electronics & communication engineers. The latest technologies include self-driving cars, autonomous drone logistics, robotics, automation in industries, smart energy systems etc.
But getting acquainted with these industries will not be easy as they demand engineers who are more hands-on with the latest technologies.
